Meals
at the field station are excellent and are provided at our Yarisnori
restaurant as part of the basic daily rate. Three meals are prepared
daily, breakfast is at 7:30 am, lunch at noon, and dinner at 6:00 pm.
Meals generally consist of a meat main course (fish, chicken, beef or
pork), a salad, rice and beans, and plantains. Vegetarians are easily
accommodated. Specialized foods, such as lobster, shrimp, etc., can
also be special ordered. A freshly made tropical juice (orange, passion
fruit, tamarindo, etc.) is served with each meal. Soft and alcoholic
drinks are available but are not included. Filtered water is always
available. A small store is maintained in the kitchen area that includes
candy, cookies, chips, bottled water and other items. Our head cook,
Juany Serracin, has been repeatedly recognized as one of Panama’s
best chefs and she has been featured in many national television and
magazine articles.
