Teaching Experience
Dr. Roughan has
taught courses in Introductory Marine Science, Coral Reefs; Environment
and Ecology and The Marine Environment.
Research Interests
My research interests
lie in observational studies of the dynamical processes of coastal marine
ecosystems, including investigation of the dominant nutrient enrichment
processes on the continental shelf. In particular I am interested in
the examination of currents in the near shore zone, and the across shelf
transport of nutrients and plankton. I am also interested in the interactions
of alongshore flow with coastal topography, in particular associated
upwelling effects, headland retention and/or downstream transport. I
have been involved in studies of tidal circulation around coral cays
and upwelling of nutrients in island wakes as well as circulation, sediment
transport and nutrient uptake across the reef flat of shingle and coral
cays.
