Research Interests

Distance Learning Doug helped to create "Maya Quest" an interactive learning experience that was directed by thousands of classrooms around the world, via the Internet.
The next Interactive project will be "Web Journalism in India". A team of 200 volunteers will build a monastery in India in the fall of 2002. http://www.themonasteryproject.org/.

Professional Experience

  • MayaQuest was an Interactive expedition exploring the world of the Maya. The Washington Post called MayaQuest one of the most sucessful attempts at distance learning to date. It had an estimated 3.5 billion media recognition's to date including segments on CNN, Prime Time Live, and Newton's Apple. The 1998 expedition received 2 million hits @ per day for 6 weeks.
