Teaching Experience

Dr. Bocian has taught a number of lecture, field and laboratory courses including Organismal Biology, Human Biology, Psychology, Experimental Psychology Lab, Mathematics, African Primates and Primate Ecology.

Research Interests

Dr. Bocian's research interests include community ecology, especially of African rainforest primates, primate social behavior, plant chemistry, plant animal interactions and conservation. She was field director for a study examining the relationship of foraging strategy and social organization in western lowland gorillas and chimpanzees in Dzanga-Ndoki National Park, Africa. She also studied patterns of food selection, range and social organization Black-and-White Colobus Monkeys in the Ituri Forest, Republic of Congo, and assisted in the resocializing chimpanzees and baboons confiscated from poachers.
